About Ray

Ray Martin’s journey began in the early 1970s in Winnipeg’s vibrant music scene, where at just 16 he

played in rustic bars and discovered his gift for songwriting. In the 1980s, he was crafting jingles for

radio and TV while also co-founding the Foster Martin Band with Lyle Foster. Their first album took

the country music scene by storm, leading to five more. By the 1990s, the Foster Martin Band was

touring Canada’s major festivals, sharing stages with legends like George Jones and Pam Tillis, and

performing internationally in France, Germany, Spain, and Australia. In the 2000s, the song “Thank

You Lord For The Sun” opened doors to Nashville, leading to collaborations with artists such as

Kenny Alphin of Big & Rich. Ray also spent five years singing in a Gospel quartet with Canadian

legend Ray St. Germain, Lorlie Barkman, and Wes Wilson. In the 2020s, his path has taken a spiritual

turn with the creation of an independent project of inspirational songs. His career stands as a

testament to versatility, resilience, and a lifelong passion for music, with new songs that continue to

tell captivating stories, inspire joy, and reflect his unwavering commitment to the art of songwriting.

The Story Behind “A Miracle”

Ray and Pat Martin met when they were 15 years old. One year later

Pat was pregnant and had to give her baby boy up for adoption

because they were too young to become parents. Two years later

they were married, and went on with their lives. But everything

changed 16 years later, when their son turned 18 and came to find

them. This is the story of the day that became nothing short of a miracle.
